Buy Heat Pump

Buying a heat pump provides full ownership, predictable costs, and long-term value without rental contracts.

Types of Heat Pump by Operation

Single-Stage Heat Pump

Single-stage heat pumps operate at one output level. They are reliable and straightforward but may cycle on and off more frequently.

Two-Stage Heat Pump

Two-stage heat pumps adjust between high and low output. This improves comfort and efficiency during most operating conditions.

Variable-Speed (Inverter) Heat Pump

Variable-speed heat pumps continuously adjust output to match demand. They offer consistent temperatures, quieter operation, and high efficiency.

Cold Climate Operation (ccASHP)

Cold climate air-source heat pumps are designed to maintain heating performance in lower outdoor temperatures common in Canada.

Zoned Multi-Split Systems

Zoned systems allow different areas of the home to be heated or cooled independently, improving comfort and energy control.

Types of Heat Pumps by LG Home Comfort

All Electric Air-Source Heat Pump

Air-source heat pumps transfer heat between indoor air and outdoor air. They are widely used due to their flexibility and efficient performance. No gas or propane is required.

Hybrid Heat Pump Systems

Hybrid systems combine a heat pump with a backup heating source such as a furnace, automatically switching based on conditions and efficiency needs.

Multi-Zone Ductless Heat Pump

Zoned systems allow different areas of the home to be heated or cooled independently, improving comfort and energy control.

Types of Heat Pumps by Application

Ducted Heat Pumps

Ducted heat pumps use existing ductwork to distribute air throughout the home, making them suitable for whole-home comfort.

Ductless Mini-Split Systems

Ductless systems deliver heating and cooling directly to specific rooms or zones without ductwork.

Rebates Available for Heat Pumps

Government rebate programs help make heat pumps more affordable for homeowners looking to improve energy efficiency. Depending on the heat pump type and eligibility requirements, rebates can significantly reduce upfront installation costs and improve long-term savings.

What Our Customers Say

Frequently Asked Questions

What Does a New Heat Pump Cost in Canada?

The cost of a new heat pump in Canada depends on several factors, including system type, size, efficiency level, and installation requirements. Cold-climate and variable-speed heat pumps are typically priced higher because they are designed to perform efficiently across a wider range of temperatures.

Pricing can vary based on the brand, model, and system configuration selected, as well as the specific needs of the home. To receive the most accurate cost information and confirm eligibility for available rebates, homeowners are encouraged to contact LG Home Comfort for a professional consultation and personalized quote.

Before buying a heat pump, it’s important to consider how the system will perform in your home year-round. The right choice depends on your home’s layout, comfort needs, and long-term energy goals.

Important factors to consider include:

  • Home size and layout – The system must be properly sized to heat and cool your space efficiently.
  • Insulation and air sealing – Well-insulated homes get better performance and savings from heat pumps.
  • Existing ductwork – Homes with ducts may suit ducted systems, while others may benefit from ductless options.
  • Climate performance – Cold-climate heat pumps are designed to handle lower winter temperatures.
  • Energy efficiency and rebates – Higher-efficiency systems may qualify for government rebates and lower operating costs.
  • Budget and monthly payments – Upfront cost, All these payment options, and long-term savings should be reviewed together.

A professional assessment helps ensure the heat pump you choose is properly matched to your home and comfort needs.

Most heat pumps last between 12 and 20 years, depending on system quality, usage patterns, and maintenance. Regular servicing helps keep components clean, reduces wear, and maintains efficient operation over time. Heat pumps that receive routine maintenance are less likely to experience major breakdowns and often operate closer to their expected lifespan. Consistent care makes maintenance an important part of long-term heat pump ownership and reliability.
A heat pump works by moving heat instead of creating it, which makes it more energy efficient than many traditional systems. In heating mode, the system pulls heat from the outside air or ground and transfers it into your home to keep indoor spaces warm. In cooling mode, the process reverses, removing heat from inside the home and releasing it outdoors.

This heat transfer process allows one system to handle both heating and cooling throughout the year. Because heat pumps move heat rather than burn fuel, they can operate more efficiently, maintain steady indoor temperatures, and run more quietly. This makes heat pumps a practical option for consistent comfort and lower energy use.

Not all heat pumps qualify for government rebates. Eligibility depends on whether the system meets specific program requirements set by rebate authorities.

Common rebate qualification factors include:

  • Energy efficiency ratings – The heat pump must meet minimum efficiency standards.
  • Cold-climate performance – Systems must be designed to operate reliably in colder temperatures.
  • System type and certification – Only approved models and configurations are eligible.
  • Professional installation – Installation must be completed by a licensed HVAC contractor.
  • Program-specific rules – Each rebate program has its own criteria and documentation requirements.

Because requirements can change, professional guidance helps ensure the selected heat pump qualifies before installation.
